Interactive Augmented Applications are Coming
The coming wave of Augmentation will change how we will interact with the world around us. All things become information appliances in this interconnected world of digital information overlay. We are already seeing frameworks being developed to handle data and applications that will utilize this ecosystem of AR platforms. Microsoft sends a clear signal with this video from TED by Blaise Aguera y Arcas where he dives in “literally” to Bing maps and shows how his team brings real time video augmentation to mapping.
I can envision a ton of useful applications that get developed from the mundane to the sublime. Real world child finder solutions utilizing real time video feedback to help a parent find a lost little one in Pioneer Square anyone. How about a real time system that allows you to stand in line with out actually being on location until it was your turn. I am envisioning an overlay of telepresence people “waiting in line” and you would simply login place your self in line based on availability. So many potentials what do you think?
